Relieve Your Family’s Stress

By Chelsea on Sunday, July 9, 2017

I love living near the beach. I know I take it for granted. It’s my favorite place to be despite my love-hate relationship with sand. Sand in my shoes, in my car, in the girl’s hair and diapers. I like a nice quiet morning sitting on the beach, drinking a coffee, watching the dolphins dance …

Wrinkled to Perfection

By Chelsea on Wednesday, July 5, 2017

Summer is the time for vacay travel, Wooooooohooooooo! I’m not going anywhere really exciting this year, but I live in a highly popular vacation destination area. Here in SoCal the weather is warm, the ocean breeze is cool, and the fashion is relaxed. I love this dress I found on StyleWe.com. The texture is already …

Taste What’s Trending

By Chelsea on Friday, June 30, 2017

Ice cream is always a favorite summertime treat. I remember my love of ice cream from when I was a little kid. My Grammy used to take my siblings and I to the grocery store, and they had a small 6 flavor ice cream cart. We would all get a scope of the Bubble Gum. …

Celebrity Sightings

By Chelsea on Thursday, June 15, 2017

I’ve lived in the LA area of Southern California for many years now. One of the things many people who have recently moved here ask me, is where to go to see the celebs? Sure you could spend the whole night at a late night variety show taping, or lunch at the Ivy. You’re always bound …

Daily Dime: June 2017

By Chelsea on Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Today has been a long Monday! On Mondays, my 3-year-old Cora goes to daycare, “just Cora” as she says, and little Bex stays home with me. Daddy is on a break from work right now so he is home with us today too. While he has been home from work I have been trying to …

Love the One You’re With

By Chelsea on Tuesday, June 13, 2017

My husband and I don’t always communicate effectively on a daily basis, but one of the reasons we have been happily together for 17 years is we listen to each other when it really matters. Becoming parents has made us both ridiculously happy. Cora is 3 now, Bexley is 1.5, and we still don’t have it figured out. With …

3 Ways to Wear Black in Springtime

By Chelsea on Thursday, June 8, 2017

When spring and summer come I’m always inspired to break out the colors. My wardrobe, however, is still mostly black and white with a few other neutrals sprinkled in. As a beach mom, I feel silly wearing black in the heat. Luckily there are a few trends this year that make the seasonal transition easy …

Girls for the Vote is a Historical Fiction novel a Girls for the Vote is a Historical Fiction novel about a girl befriending two women who are looked down upon in their apartment building because they are single and opinionated. They are suffragettes and teach the young neighbor why their voices matter.
They protest and get arrested in their efforts to establish our right to vote. A great discussion starter.

Stella by Starlight is a young inspired writer trying to find her voice. You will experience life as a child during segregation. The fear of family and friends being tormented by the K4K, the magic of community, and the frustration and bravery to fight against the systemic oppression preventing black people’s right to vote. A must read for middle graders.

When you homeschool cosplay kids it’s hard not to When you homeschool cosplay kids it’s hard not to play along. The Eye of Sauron. My armor corset and arm guards are made from 100+ sticks of hot glue molded in a resin mold and hot glued together with a resin finish. I want to make one of these in every color! The headpiece is cardboard and the eye is just cellophane heat treated with a skewer through the middle to hold it in place. This cosplay was so fun to wear for the FanCon anniversary celebration of LOTR 👁️ one young gal stopped me and asked if I was the villain from LEGO Batman 😂 one man joked I was “the original flock camera”…

Of the 20 Middle Grade, Chapter Books we read a lo Of the 20 Middle Grade, Chapter Books we read a loud in 2026 my favorite was The Girl Who Drank the Moon. We read this on audiobook while traveling and it was so beautifully narrated. A truly beautiful and engaging read. The Wings of Fire series is much more graphic than I thought it would be, violent and gory, we also listen to them all on audiobook, pre-read for your more sensitive kiddos. It was so much fun reliving classics like Anne of Greene Gables, Bridge to Terabithia, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. A random conversation lead to a deep dive of Tourette’s and the reading of The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, also a great narration on audiobook. What were some of your family’s favorite reads in 2025?
📖 10 yo Favorites were:
1. Anne of Green Gables
2. Winterhouse
3. Bridge to Terabithia
📚 12 yo Favorites
1. Verity Vox and the Curse of the Foxfire
2. Wildoak

Christmas whimsy at @hahnreindeerfarm! Our family Christmas whimsy at @hahnreindeerfarm! Our family had so much fun learning all about reindeer and how beautifully fascinating and complex they are. An animal that seems exotic to us, but is as common as cow in the Nordic region. The kids loved feeding and petting the reindeer, donkeys, and horses. If you’re in the Northern Colorado area add this experience to your Winter Bucket List! 🦌✨

Some of the reasons I choose to homeschool are to Some of the reasons I choose to homeschool are to ensure my kids learn social emotional skills, critical thinking, the beauty in culture, connection to spirit, nature, and self, and real history the first time. Moms everywhere are trying to hold it together whe Moms everywhere are trying to hold it together when inside we feel like a teapot about to blow. It can feel like we’re drastically under-reacting for those us not in the heart of crisis in Chicago, DC, Portland or Los Angeles, feeling unable to move this energy in a physical, measurable way. There’s not a lot to do physically where I live. I will continue to show up in other ways but it just never FEELS enough, but ALL of it counts. ALL of it matters. When we make intentional choices to do anything in resistance, we are making change. So much thanks, and so many blessings to those there, on the ground, putting themselves in harms way, taking the physical risks. We see you. We’re cheering for you 🫶🏻
