The leaves are changing color and Fantasy Football teams have been formed. In this house, football is the true start of the Fall season. Some women are just here for the tailgate food and the fun, but in our circle, the ladies come together for the love of the game. I love hosting any kind of gathering but there’s something special about getting together with family and friends to tailgate for a football game. There is the competitiveness and the banter. There’s wearing your team colors and cheering for the team. It’s all fun and games till someone spills the wine…
I recently tasted Cowboy Caviar when visiting my family for a bridal shower. They set the colorful bowl of yummy in front of me and it was game over! This delightful mix of beans, veggies, and cilantro are sure to please all your tailgate guests, ladies, and gentlemen alike. It’s super simple to prep and takes zero actual cooking. A busy mama’s dream come true! Cowboy Caviar is the perfect tailgate food and can be served as a chip and dip, a pasta salad, or a rice bowl.
3 Ways to Cater your Tailgate to the Ladies
1 CowGIRL Caviar || Tailgate food is usually meaty and greasy. Pizza, wings, nachos, and sausages. Cowgirl caviar is a fresh and zesty substitute. It caters to the ladies but my husband can’t pass it up.
2 Decor || No need to decorate the whole house for a game day, but there are a few simple things you can do to make the mamas feel like it’s a special occasion. My favorite is paper straws. They come in a wide variety of colors and designs. Fresh flowers are always a must for me! Garlands and napkins give the helmet bowls a nice feminine touch if you like to be a little extra.
3 Tailgate Colors || Temporary tattoos, nail art, and hair color are all simple ways to add a little fancy to football. Great for moms and kids to keep entertained while dad is glued to the game. Show your team spirit!
Cowgirl Caviar Recipe
4 tomatoes
3 avocados
1 red onion
cilantro (optional)
1 LG can olives (optional)
1 can black beans
1 can black-eyed peas
1 bag frozen corn
Italian dressing
red wine vinegar
Dice tomatoes, avocados, onion, and cilantro. Rinse beans and toss with chopped items in a large bowl. Defrost corn by running under hot water and add to mixture. Top with olives and dress with Italian dressing and little red wine vinegar. If you are bringing to a potluck, wait until you get to your destination to add avocado so it doesn’t turn brown. Serve with chips and do a touchdown dance.
