Of the 20 Middle Grade, Chapter Books we read a lo Of the 20 Middle Grade, Chapter Books we read a loud in 2026 my favorite was The Girl Who Drank the Moon. We read this on audiobook while traveling and it was so beautifully narrated. A truly beautiful and engaging read. The Wings of Fire series is much more graphic than I thought it would be, violent and gory, we also listen to them all on audiobook, pre-read for your more sensitive kiddos. It was so much fun reliving classics like Anne of Greene Gables, Bridge to Terabithia, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. A random conversation lead to a deep dive of Tourette’s and the reading of The Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus, also a great narration on audiobook. What were some of your family’s favorite reads in 2025?
📖 10 yo Favorites were:
1. Anne of Green Gables
2. Winterhouse
3. Bridge to Terabithia
📚 12 yo Favorites
1. Verity Vox and the Curse of the Foxfire
2. Wildoak
3. Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus

Christmas whimsy at @hahnreindeerfarm! Our family Christmas whimsy at @hahnreindeerfarm! Our family had so much fun learning all about reindeer and how beautifully fascinating and complex they are. An animal that seems exotic to us, but is as common as cow in the Nordic region. The kids loved feeding and petting the reindeer, donkeys, and horses. If you’re in the Northern Colorado area add this experience to your Winter Bucket List! 🦌✨

Moms everywhere are trying to hold it together whe Moms everywhere are trying to hold it together when inside we feel like a teapot about to blow. It can feel like we’re drastically under-reacting for those us not in the heart of crisis in Chicago, DC, Portland or Los Angeles, feeling unable to move this energy in a physical, measurable way. There’s not a lot to do physically where I live. I will continue to show up in other ways but it just never FEELS enough, but ALL of it counts. ALL of it matters. When we make intentional choices to do anything in resistance, we are making change. So much thanks, and so many blessings to those there, on the ground, putting themselves in harms way, taking the physical risks. We see you. We’re cheering for you 🫶🏻

What song is your family dancing to? Music is one What song is your family dancing to? Music is one of the most powerful mood boosters, emotional regulators, thought provoker, and form of expression. It aids in ability to learn and comprehend literature and math. Dance is a powerful act of tradition, interpretation, communication, seduction, joy, integration, expression, culture, rebellion, intimacy, and self confidence. Using music in different ways daily to enhance our learning and connection is an essential part of our unschooling. Learning choreography is fun but not necessary to experience these benefits.
