In our homeschool we don’t use curriculum, we us In our homeschool we don’t use curriculum, we use life as our guide to learning. Our child-led approach takes pop culture, current events, the seasons, and most importantly, the curiosity of children, and unfolds it into the “curriculum”. Here’s a look back at our month of April and how our road trip to Las Vegas the last week of March unfolded. Swipe through for a more detailed breakdown —>

Deep Dives inspired by Las Vegas:
Glitter Mountain- Selenite
Museums- Ice Age, Mammoths & Sloths
Museums- History of Las Vegas
Titanic Exhibit- Titanic

Read A Loud:
Finished the last 2 books in the Wings of Fire series
The Witch of Blackbird Pond
Anne of Green Gables
Stella by Starlight

Nature and Current Events:
Statue of Liberty
Nature-
Easter
River Days
Bike Rides
Rain Play
Fairy Gardens
Said Goodbye to a Pet Rat
Attended Friend’s Theatre Performance

Play:
Legos
Play dough
Sensory play
Crochet
Watercolor

Every day in April my 5yo attended his prek in the morning, both 9yo and 11yo do Self Study. Each morning they do chores and self-led math, reading, piano, soccer skills, etc… then Project Time. 11yo projects are baking and sourdough, cooks 2 dinners a week, and 9yo does Greek Mythology and soccer.

Every month is different, and every season is different. We love that this lifestyle allows us to create a flexible and intentional schedule that works for us and our priorities. I often hear “I could never teach my kids” as a response to people hearing we homeschool- but by allowing our education to bloom in this way I’ve never had to combat or coerce my children into our “school work”, in fact, they’re often are excited to get started.

I’m okay if only like, 5 people, like me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have to live with myself, and part of that means choosing kindness, however, kindness doesn’t always look like being “nice.” Sometimes it means setting firm boundaries, especially when harmful beliefs threaten the rights and safety of others.

Heart centered truths:
-Autism is not a disease
-Eugenics is never okay
-There’s no corn syrup in baby formula
-Red dye isn’t banned in Europe
-Measles are preventable
-Mental health needs funding, not work farms
-Food safety isn’t a government conspiracy
-Aborted fetal cells are not in v@xines
-Child marriage should absolutely be illegal
-Gender-affirming care is both life-saving and affirming
-Indigenous peoples are the original stewards of this land and should be treated with respect and reverence.
-Yes, you benefit from systemic racism
-Aborti0n is healthcare
-G*n reform matters
-Religious freedom is not the same as Christian nationalism
-Due process is for everyone

Human rights must come first!

And the list goes on. I know these truths can be uncomfortable, but that discomfort is the beginning of accountability, not a reason to stay silent. Whatever you might’ve heard that made MAHA seem inspirational isn’t real. It’s okay to be wrong. I won’t be cruel, but I also won’t sugarcoat reality. We all deserve a world rooted in love & safety.

Scrunchy, woo-woo, wild & free, heart centered, mo Scrunchy, woo-woo, wild & free, heart centered, moms and aunties. Mom figures wanting to romanticize motherhood and care taking. To bake, hike, read, and bring connection and purpose into their lives, however that looks. Finding intentional moments and pockets of whimsy in each day. We want a slower, more natural, more intimate relationship with spirit, nature, and childhood, without allowing harm to marginalized people. Without the cultural need to bring others down to build us up. To find a healthy balance in a way that works for our family, that supports our needs, without judgement. To build communities of love and support for all. To be THE SAFE SPACE. #raisingkindkids

“Money can’t buy happiness…”, but it can b “Money can’t buy happiness…”, but it can buy you the tools, time, and nervous system support to live a life that actually feels like yours.

It’s okay to want more.
Not for greed.
Not for ego.
But because your most aligned lifestyle might just cost more than burnout, self-abandonment, and barely scraping by.

This (gestures wildly at capitalism)
is what the lie of the American Dream has gotten us:
Debt.
Disconnection.
Chronic illness.
School lockdowns.
Mothers silenced.
Communities unraveling.

Not in my vision.
Not in my America.

In mine, we wake slowly.
We greet the sun.
We tend to the earth and each other.
We create, not just consume.
We raise children who are safe to feel and free to dream.
We choose softness on purpose.

So here’s your invitation:
Close your eyes.
Imagine your most aligned day.
What does it feel like to wake up in that life?

Now—what’s one small shift you can make to honor that feeling today?
Start there.
Bet on you.
This world isn’t going to change unless we do.

Homeschooling may not be for every family. And tha Homeschooling may not be for every family.
And that’s okay.

But connection?
That belongs to all of us.

The snuggles with a book.
The muddy hands after a walk in the woods.
The whispered questions at bedtime.
The slow mornings.
The kitchen messes.
The shared wonder.

These moments—quiet and sacred—are the ones that root our children in love.
That remind them they’re safe, seen, and home.

You don’t need a curriculum to create magic.
You just need to be present.

May these quotes remind you that raising kind, curious, heart-led humans isn’t about perfection—
it’s about presence.

Which quote spoke to you today? Save or share with a mama who’s in this season too.

We PLAY! Instead of handing them a screen while we We PLAY! Instead of handing them a screen while we wait at a restaurant, event, or appointment,
we play…

iSpy.
20 questions.
Telephone.
Guess the number.
Would you rather.
Alphabet games.
A story round.

It’s a little thing—
but it turns waiting into bonding,
boredom into giggles,
stillness into presence.

These moments might seem small, but they’re where connection lives. Our games often turn into discussions about the most unhinged topics and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And the more we choose each other over distraction, the more our children learn that joy doesn’t need to be downloaded.

It wasn’t always this way! We learned and gradually shifted away from using screens. It took practice, patience, and dedication.
———————————————-
Alphabet games: we try to find a word that has (or starts with for a bigger challenge), each letter of the alphabet using signs and people’s clothes.

Or we pick a category like foods, Disney characters, or animals and try to think of one for every letter of the alphabet. You can all think of one for each letter or go in a circle with the next letter for the next person.

We play a version of Taboo where we think of words and give clues to the other person to guess the word.

Pass the Story is the game where you tell a story in a round- every person adds a sentence. The stories can get pretty unhinged.😆

Save this reel for the next time you find yourself waiting. And share it with other moms to foster a community of screen free-ish families.

Should we be friends? I believe in raising the res Should we be friends? I believe in raising the resistance with kindness— but in the holding space for anger kinda way.
In child-led learning, slow living, sacred messes, and laughing till it hurts— but not in the school is indoctrinating children way.
I believe motherhood can be magical and messy at the same time, in the— I love being in the kitchen, but not the kitchen is where women belong kinda way.

I’m not here to be perfect— I’m here to be present.
To unlearn, relearn, and build a life that actually feels like mine. Not one designed by the patriarchy where family comes last.

If you’re into full moon rituals and nature hikes, if you say things like “isn’t that sunset magical” and “nervous system regulation” and “it’s about balance,”
if you cry over children’s books and believe play is a form of rebellion…

We should probably be friends 🤍✨

Stick around. It’s chaos magick and good trouble here. Mostly romanticizing motherhood, fostering a safe space for all peoples, and focusing on manifesting our dream life, while also speaking out against injustice and speaking up for those who are in need of more voices.

We just finished Anne of Green Gables and it was p We just finished Anne of Green Gables and it was pure entertainment.

We laughed. We cried— mostly me. We fell in love with Anne’s wild heart, overwhelming imagination, big words, and kind spirit.

This story opened up conversations about belonging, forgiveness, bosom friendship, and the beauty of seeing the world through wonder-filled eyes.

Since we’re a homeschool family it doesn’t stop at reading. We made a map and brochure to explore Avonlea. Baked Pound Cake and made Homemade Raspberry Cordial.

I forgot the joys of Anne’s stories and it was pure magic getting to remember along with my children.
