5 Tips for Perfect Vampire Lip Art

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. As a former makeup artist turned busy stay-at-home mom, I’m always looking for new ways to create a look with just accessories and cosmetics. Makeup is a great way to save during Halloween because I don’t have to buy new costumes, I can use stuff I already have or will use again. This Vampire Lipstick look I came up with last year (I’m sure it’s been done before..) is so simple! Makeup is a great way to participate in Halloween at the office or your kid’s Halloween party if you aren’t a fan of costumes. This Vampire Lip Art is simple to throw on wherever you are headed.

There are so many ways you could Vamp up this Vampire Lip Art and take it even further. Try a more dramatic smokey eye for an even more haunting Halloween look. You could also play with the shape of the lip, creating harder lines, or a more heart-shaped lip, like Winifred Sanderson in Hocus Pocus or the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland.

5 Tips & Tricks for the perfect Vampire Lip Art

1|| PREP – Exfoliate and moisturize your lips for flawless lipstick. Try a lip scrub like the Fabulips Sugar Scrub from Bliss. Make sure you hydrate your lips at least 10 minutes before applying your Vampire Lip Art. I’m a big fan of the Organic Lip Balm from EOS.

2|| PRIMER – Use a lip primer to prep your Vampire Lip Art. You don’t want all your hard work to fade away. A lip primer will also help keep your lips hydrated so they don’t dry out during wear. This Prep & Prime Lip from M.A.C. is the lip primer I swear by!

3|| LIPSTICK – When picking a red lipstick for your Vampire Lip Art you want to find a true red color. It’s very important that the lipstick you use is Matte. I like Ruby Woo, a retro matte lipstick from M.A.C. A matte lipstick is a dry texture and won’t smudge. Make sure you let the lipstick set for a minute before adding the liquid liner for the vampire teeth. Use a lip brush or angled eyeliner brush to get a perfect shape for your Vampire Lip Art. A brush is also really helpful for touchups later.

4|| LIQUID LINER – I use liquid eyeliner to create the vampire teeth for this Halloween makeup. It’s a MUST that all products must be WaterPROOF! I use Boot Black liquid eyeliner from M.A.C. and white Stila All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Snow. Start with the white and press the liquid liner tip sideways to give yourself some lines for the teeth. Fill in the white vampire teeth and let dry. Use the fine tip of the black liquid liner (wipe off excess liquid) to line the outside of the vampire teeth.

5|| KEEP IT VAMP – You want to keep your lipstick rockin all day and night so make sure you drink lots of water so your lips stay hydrated from the inside-out. Use a straw when you drink to keep minimal contact with your Vampire Lip Art. If you want to seal your Vampire Lip Art, try this Aqua Seal from Make-Up Forever. Make sure you bring all your products with you to touch up.

PRO TIP || A concealer or a makeup remover are a great way to fix any mistakes when applying or touching up your Vampire Lip Art.
