Family. We all have one. Love them, or hate them. Big or small. I’m a sucker for a good family movie or TV show. It reminds me that I wouldn’t trade my family for another, and in some instances that my family isn’t that bad. It also humbles me as I realize that there are many without a family around, or withzero family support. The new NBC show “This Is Us”, starring Mandy Moore, will be my new obsession.
I’m an eldest of 3. There are times us siblings are supper close and talk all the time. There are also times we’ll go weeks without speaking, only getting updates from our Mom. At the end of the day though, we are always there for each other. I love having siblings. They are the only people in this world that can relate to my childhood. I can reminisce about growing up 90’s with plenty of people, but no one knows what dinner in our home was like. What it was like at our house on Christmas morning. No one will bear the same pain when we lose a family member. No one shares those memories and milestones like a brother or a sister. When a family goes through a time of pain or struggle, the only people who truly get it are those in the circle. My only real goal in life is to give that security of sibling-hood to my children. My girls are only 23 months apart and they would be closer in age had we gotten pregnant right away. I hope to have more in the future and give them all the opportunity to find that something in each other they can’t live without. We’re going to see that in the NBC family drama “This Is Us”. It is undoubtedly the new family drama that will have us all laughing and crying as if we were a member of the family. If you were a fan of the show “Parenthood”, you have found your new solace. The pilot episode will leave you wishing you were watching a movie. I think they were able to create characters that everyone will relate to in one way or another. I can’t wait for you all to see it!!! Set your DVR, you wont want to miss it. There is a twist everyone will talking about.
